What we collect

Cookies and storage on your device
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The website stores a few things in your own browser (local and session storage) so it works better for you: unfinished enquiry drafts, your chat conversation during a visit, calculator inputs and history, your text-size choice, closed announcements and the source of your first visit. This stays on your device unless you send an enquiry. Staff who sign in to our leads dashboard receive a strictly necessary session cookie. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis

- To understand and improve our website and marketing - our legitimate interest, using totals only
- To keep business and tax records - legal obligation
We do not sell your information or use it for automated decisions about you. We will only send marketing if you have asked us to.
Who we share it with
Our website host and email provider, who store and deliver messages for us; Meta (WhatsApp) if you contact us on WhatsApp; Google, only if you choose to load the map on our contact page; our professional advisers and insurers where needed; and anyone we are legally required to share with. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they use safeguards such as approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and uploaded files that do not lead to work are deleted after 24 months. Records for customers and suppliers are kept for as long as needed for the work, warranties and legal and tax purposes. Job applications are kept for up to 12 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Website statistics are kept as totals.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive it in a portable format. Email info@prosteelsolution.com and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
